Tū Mai, Te Arawa!


We're currently calling for candidates who affiliate to Te Arawa, over 18-years-old and registered to vote with Te Arawa Lakes Trust to put their nomination forward. 

Candidates can put their nomination forward for the following 14 Te Tatau o Te Arawa board positions: 

  • Koeke (1)
  • Rangatahi (2)
  • Ngāti Whakaue (2) 
  • Te Arawa Iwi / Hapū (6)
  • Te Arawa Land Trusts & Incorporations (2); and
  • Pan-Te Arawa Entities (1)

Nominations open 9 May and close 12 noon, Wednesday 8 June 2022 with voting papers being distributed from 13 July 2022. 

Criteria for board candidates

Candidates should be willing to honour the principles of the Te Arawa partnership with Rotorua Lakes Council and must:

  • Live in Rotorua District
  • Be 18 years or over
  • Be enrolled on the Te Arawa Lakes Trust Register
  • Indicate the seat they are standing for and be endorsed by the sector they represent
  • Not be physically or mentally incapacitated to the extent that they are unable to perform the duties of a Board member
  • Not be an undischarged bankrupt
  • Not have been convicted of any serious offences, including against children, domestic violence, or fraud

Candidates must complete a nomination form that includes evidence of endorsement, and attach to

the nomination form a headshot, and candidate statement not exceeding 200 words.

They must be completed and returned to the Deputy Returning Officer at the address below, no later than 12 noon, Wednesday 8 June, 2022.
