Te Tatau o Te Arawa board members are encouraging descendants who are free from midday on Friday (21 May 2021) to join them to attend the Rotorua Lakes Council’s Māori Wards meeting in the Council Chamber. At the hui, councillors will decide whether to establish Māori Wards from next year.
It comes after a report prepared by Te Tatau o Te Arawa was presented to Council last week. Based on consultation and feedback from Te Arawa, the report recommends that for the 2022-2025 triennium:
- Rotorua Lakes Council establishes Māori wards and retains Te Tatau o TeArawa; and
- The representation review to follow reflects the outcome of the establishmentof Māori wards
Two hours have been reserved for Friday’s hui. You can read the meeting agenda HERE and on Friday watch the live-stream coverage HERE.
